Izzet tempo is one of the best general archetypes you can look to get into early thanks to the power of blues cards and the synergies with red. Deck-building for the Vintage Constructed Cube is likely the most difficult part of drafting it. Sneak Attack is among the easiest cards that take a player from no battlefield presence to winning, and red offers a handful of rituals and other effective cards for the Storm decks. } Entomb into Reanimate is great, and if you are able to load up on great card selection you can make it happen consistently, but cards like Buried Alive and Oonas Prowler are typically too inefficient to be competitive and it generally makes more sense to me to play good creatures that are at least somewhat castable and try to do that in an deck with Signets and other, better forms of fast mana. Cube has long been one of my favorite ways to play Magic. This is an especially good combo since Narset shuts down the highly prevalent number of cards draw spells that just about every archetype has access to. We trade resources. Erno Rubik inspires us with what he's learned in a lifetime of creating, curiosity and discovery . I swing back for 5 and break their signet with an Anguished Unmaking to keep them off mana. Nissa, Who Shakes the World is the consensus best five-mana planeswalker for Vintage Cube, though Vivien Reid is markedly better than whatever the next best option is. Spot removal is much less maindeckable here than other environments, which is also much to the detriment of black. The removal of Legions Landing is a blow to those aggressive decks, both in reducing the total number of one-mana threats and it being in the upper half of those on power level. 140. Must be nice. These work wonders for your mana base, making 3- and 4-color mana bases incredibly easy to assemble and produce reliable mana. I play a Shambling Vent and swing with Mutavault which trades off. Tolarian Academy, while more difficult to use, can offer copious amounts of mana to the right artifact deck, more than even mono-green could generate. In the last run of Vintage Cube I noticed players were passing Oko entirely too much. Personally, I hate this kind of deck in the Vintage Cube because its far too "fair" for my liking. We play Legion's Landing, swing, play an Ophiomancer, and Strip Mine their Swamp to keep them off tutor mana. Fireblast is a free spell that shortens your goldfish time to win by a turn and Sulfuric Vortex is a relentless way to both ensure damage and stop the one sideboard strategy to beat you in lifegain. Tovolars Huntmaster is actually better than Primeval Titan in the current build of the Cube absent Field of the Dead and Dark Depths combo, so I have no qualms with its addition. I hope you Birthing Pod fans are happy! There are more than a few cards that are half of a game-winning or infinite combo in the Cube, and knowing what they are can help you know when to pick them up or when to pass them. And while some may think that's a good strategy, I tend to find them to be overrated that I am content with 1 or 2 in most decks and will always take the real win conditions, tutors, and fixing, especially true dual lands and fetchlands over the Signets. There are some other cards that enter into the conversation, though these are what I consider to be definitively the most powerful cards in terms of raw efficiency and power. Mono-green is fully supported in the Cube with the long list of mana dorks backing it up. So my Grixis strategy is to take the fixing, take the tutors, take the irreplaceable power cards and win conditions, like Tinker, Sneak Attack and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, and then just trust that by the end of the draft your win conditions will come together. Shelldock Isle is also very easy to trigger. See what's going where! .
